What would it be like to be deaf?

Posted on Jul 27th, 2009 by jj : CHILD OF GOD jj
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 27, 2009:

Can speak from experience ... tumor surgery in 1976 removed my hearing nerve in my right ear - stone deaf.  Hearing has declined the last 15 years in my left ear, a profound loss - cause unknown.  So, not hearing in a hearing society is the pits on one hand, one becomes withdrawn, those who lack understanding think you are a little "off-center", can't hear music, movies, conversation, etc.  On the other hand, even though I can hear sounds but they are unintelligible, there is this wonderful peace of quiet within and without -- blessing, and a "call to go within"?  "In the silence the voice of God is heard."

Hi, Judy, of all the posts I've read you may be the only one who can truly answer the question.  All else has been conjecture and God forgive, hearsay.  I'm a hearing person that enjoys silence as well as the everyday noises.  As I write this I can hear the t.v. in the background ( That I ignore ), a car is passing down the road,  I hear thunder in the distance, but what has captured my attention are the little tree frogs “calling”  for rain.  Thanks for sharing your point of view.
